| Red Wigglers (Eisenia Foetida) A.K.A. Manure Worms, Brandling Worms, Hybrid Reds, California Reds, and Superworms. Known as the Kings of the compost world, they are very hardy, always hungry and will tolerate a wide range of temperature. Red Wigglers will consume one-half (1/2) their weight of decaying matter each day and will convert it to a natural by-product, called worm castings. These odorless castings are actually very rich black topsoil, or humus, it is the richest and safest natural plant food available. Castings are extremely rich in nitrogen, phosphorous, and potash with minor trace minerals. To assist these little fellows Shallow Creek Ranch offers a variety of Vermiculture products and composters. |
